CPM Quarterly Beef Expo
CPM held its quarterly beef expo on September 30th at 6 pm. Doug Hoops provided the Bar B Q of burgers and brats. Beverages were also provided. The topics for the night were: Benefits of Bio-Mos in Beef Feed by Stuart McGregor, Alltech Benefits of a good mineral program by Dr. Steve Robins, United Suppliers Dealing with diversity of corn by-products by Dr. Steve Hanson, Customized Cattle Solutions Lick tubs and block products by Deb LaLonde, United Suppliers Through out the sessions a common theme was supported "Grocery up your Cows". Nutrition for breed back gestating and calving is very important when determining efficient throughput in a cow herd. Along with balancing forages for daily feeding labor and convenience. Bio Mos in blocks mineral and supplements creates a healthy intestinal tract in cows and calves. Creating the right environment for maximum absorbtion of nutrients, and a generous reduction in bacterial load is a combination for success. The difference is in the vili. Healthy intestinal vili create a vast area for absorbtion. In the absence of Bio Mos intestinal vili are damaged decreasing the most efficient absorbtion of nutrients (groceries). Dr. Steve Hanson was present for question on Gluten feeds DDG's and Wet Distillers. There is an excellent opertunity for consistent gains and intakes with the right program. Clearly a tool such as wet feed is important to a successful program. Just like a cresent wrench is not used to pound a nail. The application of wet corn byproducts is specialized and needs to be properly balanced to meet the most efficient needs of feed lot cattle. Dr. Hanson also discussed backgrounding and the use of DDG's to balance rations with various types of forage. CPM has the proper manufacturing system for creating Balancers in backgrounding programs utilizing DDG's. Finally door prized and products were given away at the event and all had a great time. I would like to especially thank: Deb LaLonde, and Brent Tripp, United Suppliers Dr. Steve Hanson, Customized Cattle Solutions Dr. Steve Robins, United Suppliers Stuart McGregor, Alltech Look forward to seeing you in December at our next meeting. |
